EXPRESS ENTRY

Express Entry is an online system used to manage immigration applications for skilled workers through three programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

2

FAMILY SPONSORSHIP

You may be eligible to sponsor your family members to become permanent residents so they can live, study and work in Canada.

3

PROVINCIAL NOMINEE

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is for workers with the skills, education, and work experience needed to contribute to a specific province or territory in Canada and who want to become permanent residents. Each province and territory has its own immigration streams targeting different groups, such as students, business people, skilled workers, and semi-skilled workers.

1

EXPRESS ENTRY

Canada's Express Entry system is one of the most popular pathways for skilled workers seeking permanent residence. It manages applications under three main federal economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): For skilled workers with foreign work experience who meet education, language ability, and other criteria.

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): For skilled trades workers with a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification in a skilled trade.

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): For individuals with at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada, often international students or temporary foreign workers.

The Express Entry process involves creating an online profile where candidates are ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). CRS considers factors such as:

  • Age

  • Level of education

  • Skilled work experience

  • Proficiency in English and/or French

Applicants with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws conducted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). One major advantage of Express Entry is its speed—most applications are processed within six months, making it an efficient pathway for immigration.

2

FAMILY SPONSORSHIP

Canada prioritizes family reunification through its Family Sponsorship Program. This program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor certain family members to come to Canada as permanent residents. The main categories include:

  • Spouse or Common-law Partner Sponsorship: The most common type of family sponsorship. Spouses and common-law partners can be sponsored from either inside or outside Canada, and the process ensures they are supported financially until they are self-sufficient.

  • Dependent Children Sponsorship: This includes biological or adopted children under the age of 22 who are financially dependent on the sponsor.

  • Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP): This program allows sponsors to bring parents and grandparents to Canada permanently. It operates through an invitation system, where potential sponsors submit interest forms and are selected via a lottery. Alternatively, parents and grandparents may apply for the Super Visa, which allows extended visits of up to 10 years.

Sponsors are required to sign an undertaking to provide financial support to their family members for a specified period, ensuring they do not rely on public funds.

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM

The Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) is a key immigration pathway for individuals who wish to settle in Ontario. As Canada's most populous province and an economic hub, Ontario attracts skilled workers, students, and entrepreneurs. The OINP has several immigration streams, including:

  • Human Capital Category: This includes:

    • Express Entry-linked streams: For skilled workers, international students, and French-speaking candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and have a valid Express Entry profile.

    • Masters Graduate and PhD Graduate streams: For graduates from eligible Ontario universities without requiring a job offer.

  • Employer Job Offer Category: For candidates with a valid job offer from an employer in Ontario. Streams under this category include:

    • Foreign Worker Stream

    • International Student Stream

    • In-Demand Skills Stream (for specific sectors like construction and agriculture).

  • Business Immigration Stream: For entrepreneurs planning to start or purchase a business in Ontario.

Successful applicants receive a provincial nomination, which awards them an additional 600 CRS points if they are in the Express Entry pool. This effectively guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. The OINP helps Ontario address labor market needs and attract talent to contribute to the province's economic growth.

Each of these programs has its own eligibility criteria and application process. If you'd like, I can provide further details about how to apply or tips for maximizing your chances of success!
